Grand Opening Philips Design celebrates
jubilee during DDW 2005 Philips Design celebrates its eightieth anniversary with the publication of a splendid jubilee edition which will be presented during the Dutch Design Week. At Strijp S, an exhibition is staged featuring trend-setting Philips products of the past eighty years. Obviously, the above mentioned events just represent a random choice from the massive programme which also includes a virtual exhibition of Eindhoven designs (organized by Design Connection) which after DDW is travelling to New York and other cities, a congress and a book presentation about theatre design (organized by [Z]00 Producties), an exhibition of products designed by young designers (Lift Off) and a new, even more elaborate edition of Grey Tones, the project of young graphic designers and firms which turned out to be a big hit with both the press and the public. |

| Dutch Design Week is organized by Design Platform Eindhoven (DPE). DPE is a professional organization which, supported by the Eindhoven Design community, seeks to develop a stimulating and dynamic design climate in all cultural, social and economic domains in Eindhoven and surrounding areas. In order to realize this, DPE organizes events, congresses, lectures and workshops based on three major dimensions: cultural stimulation, social cohesion and economic enhancement. It is DPE’s objective to further improve the cultural, economic and professional climate with regard to design in the region and to position Eindhoven nationally and internationally as Design City. | |
