Established & Sons London Design Week

23 - 24 September 2006

Grosvenor Place, London

Estanblished & Sons partner the (RED) campaign founded by Bono and Bobby Shriver in 2002. The unveiling of the (RED) Aqua Table will take place on Saturday 23 September to coincide with the Established & Sons exhibition at 9 Grosvenor Place, Belgravia. The interior settings of Grosvenor Place’s 19th century Georgian townhouse will provide an elegant backdrop for the entire Established & Sons production collection. Many of the pieces on show will be premiering in the UK alongside new variations and new colourways of existing designs.

Established & Sons began with the ambition of reviving interest in the skills and capabilities of British furniture manufacturing. This was coupled with an understanding of and respect for the design talents currently working in or hailing from Britain. A timely meeting between Alasdhair Willis and Angad Paul of the Caparo Group led to one of the most interesting and inspiring business relationships Britain has seen in recent years. The sheer manufacturing capability of the Caparo Group combined with the industry know-how of
the Established & Sons team proved a dynamic marriage and has aided the company’s speedy growth.
The Caparo group has ensured direct access to a diverse collection of Britain’s best manufacturing factories and workshops. It’s a unique product-manufacturing situation that has attracted the cream of design talent to Established & Sons.
The company’s manifesto includes a mission to employ the talents of both celebrated, renowned creatives and to harness the energy and originality of a younger generation of emerging design talent. The original line-up of commissioned designers reflected this mission, Established & Sons have gone on to reinforce this strategy by adding two new names – one established and one fledgling – to the group for their second collection. This pattern of commissioning is one the company intends to stay with, each year the original designers will be joined by new names and the collection will continue to grow.
It is Established & Sons intention that the combination of commissioned designers and architects generates an eclectic collection of work. Established & Sons believe strongly in encouraging their designers own creative bent rather than imposing a house style. The celebration of each designer’s individual style is an important objective of the company.
April 2005 saw the launch of Established & Sons- their company, its mission and first design collection at Milan’s International Furniture Fair. The reception was overwhelmingly encouraging – much critical success, editorial mileage and several awards followed. This includes the industries highest accolade, the Red Dot Design Award, won by the Zero-In for 2006. At the same time the company’s Limited Edition designs were also
launched – this programme of producing spectacular products designed by celebrated contemporary design talents has captured the imagination of collectors and museums across the globe. A successful UK launch and Asia launch followed in the autumn of 2005. April 2006 sees the unveiling of the company’s second collection
of products during the Milan Furniture Fair. Ten new designs (and two new designers) will join the premier collection (currently in production) and Limited Edition collection in Established & Sons largest exhibition to date.
