Chair by Khodi
Feiz Khodi Feiz designed a chair in polystyrene foam using a computer driven cutting system based on the hot wire. The seating elements adorn the outdoor and indoor spaces of the Dutch embassy in Berlin in June 2006. After an extensive research into the base material, prototypes were developed to test the structural and formal qualities of the material. Also investigations into the possibilities of wire cutting to achieve a very 3D form with only two 2d cuts in different directions. The overall project,
called NL-Lounge was coordinated by design consultant and designer Ann
Maes who asked six prominent Dutch designers Khodi Feiz, Roderick Vos,
Richard Hutten, Satyendra Pakhalé, Kas Oosterhuis and Ilona Lénard
to each design a suite of seating elements to jointly form a lounge landscape.
