Graduation

October 20 / 28, 2007
Design Academy Eindhoven
Design Academy Eindhoven presents its annual graduation show: Graduation
Galleries 2007. The exhibition takes place in deWitteDame in Eindhoven,
the monumental factory premises in which Design Academy Eindhoven is located.
The exhibited designs by this year’s graduates are characterized
by unprecedented refinement and a fascinating aura of mystery. The show
offers a complete overview of topical works by the graduates of Design
Academy Eindhoven, including projects by Bachelor students and work by
Master students.
Transforming language, challenging the senses, and experiencing space
and light constitute together with the beauty of concealing, the pleasure
of tidying, the delight of touching, and the sheer reality of being, the
quests for the quality of life. Students express these quests in, for
instance, a book on the identity of redheads, a scarf entirely made by
silk worms, sticky tape lending worn-out furniture a new lease of life,
and foot stickers conjuring up the experience of practising a sport barefooted.
Design Academy Eindhoven celebrates its sixtieth anniversary
Design Academy Eindhoven was founded in 1947 as the Academy for Industrial
Design. The design school trains students to be experts in product design,
communications design, ambient design, interior design, automotive design,
and the design of new media applications.
To celebrate the Academy’s sixtieth anniversary, the exhibition
will have an extra festive touch. The jubilee year kicked off with an
exhibition of the work by three generations of graduates at the Salone
Internazionale del Mobile 2007 in Milan. This show will be on view in
the soon-to-be opened Design House in Eindhoven in December 2007
